Projection

Definition.

Projection is the tendency to see in others the behaviors and traits we, ourselves, possess but reject. Projection, once perceived, can be withdrawn, which enables us to see others and ourselves more clearly. It is in the nature of complexes to project on exterior persons and situations. This propensity, when attended to, provides us an opportunity to discover and work with our complexes.
